Food Studies

The department delivers courses at Key Stage 3, 4 and 5.

Key Stage 3

All students in Key Stage 3 (years 7, 8 and 9) complete a course for one term of each year Food Technologywhich comprises of practical and theory work.

In Year 7 the theme of the course is “Healthy Eating” in Year 8 “Snack Products” and in Year 9 “Living Independently”. The complete course covers the following topics:

  • Choosing Ingredients
  • Snack products
  • Cake Making
  • Pastry
  • Healthy Eating
  • Health and Hygiene
  • Nutrition

  • AQA GCSE Food Preparation and Nutrition
  • Cambridge National – OCR
  • WJEC Level 1 & Level 2 Hospitality and Catering (Vocational)
  • WJEC Level 3 Food Science and Nutrition (A Level)
  • BTEC Children’s Play, Learning and Development – Extended Certificate (Pearson)
