Year 6 Transition

At Trinity Academy we recognise that the transition from primary to secondary school is a big one, not just for children, but also for parents. For this reason, we partner closely with our feeder primary schools to make the transition as smooth as possible.

The transition process begins in Year 5 when we invite children from our feeder schools to attend a special science transition event, and to take part in an annual sports competition.

At the start of Year 6 we hold our Year 6 Open Evening which takes place on the last Thursday of September. This year it falls on Thursday 26 September.

During the course of Year 6 we offer a range of competitions and rewards events. These range from story competitions to a summer disco. Through these events children become familiar with the facilities at Trinity and get to know some of the staff.

At the end of Year 6 there are two main events that we expect all children to attend.

The first is our Year 7 Welcome Evening aimed at both children and parents. The evening begins with separate presentations to children and parents delivered by members of the senior management team. There is then an opportunity to meet with tutors. At the end of the evening everyone is invited onto our quad (weather permitting) to enjoy refreshments and to ask any questions. This year the welcome evening will take place on Thursday 09 July 2020 starting at 5.30pm.

The second main event is our induction week. This takes place during the last week of term. This year induction week runs from Monday 13 July to Friday 17 July 2020. Our new students will follow a full timetable which will give them a taste of the subjects they will take in Year 7. It is a great opportunity to meet teachers, learn to navigate the school and make new friends.
